Mixed loads refer to landfill-destined loads contain at least 25% of materials that could have been diverted — such as clean wood waste, metals, concrete, recyclables, and the like.

It pays to take a bit of extra time to separate any recyclables from your landfill loads. Mixed loads are charged $220 per tonne for residential, commercial or non-partner landfill users.

These are loads containing very bulky, light materials such as Styrofoam, poly bags, tarps, plastic pipe, power poles, railroad ties, rig mats, et cetera. These materials do not pack, so they take extra space in the landfill. They also as create handling problems for the equipment operator. Loads with materials longer than 3 meters will not be accepted.

It pays to take a bit of extra time to separate any recyclables from your landfill loads. Bulky special handling loads are $330.00 per tonne for commercial and non-partner landfill users.

Parameters for acceptance of hydrocarbon-infused soil at the Regional Landfill are indicated below. Any soil that exceeds these parameters will not be accepted.

• Hydrocarbon Content less than 20,000 mg/kg
• Chlorides less than 3,000 mg/kg
• Flash point must be higher than 61 degrees Celsius
• The PH value must be no less than 2.0, and no higher than 12.5
• No free liquids as determined by use of the paint filter test
• 0-25% content of hydrocarbon and chlorides content $30.00/tonne

Soils must not be classified as a hazardous material under the provisions of the Alberta User Guide for Waste Managers. Prior to approval of disposal, copies of lab tests for the above information must be produced.
